Access to Opportunities will focus on funding projects more narrowly on economic outputs in terms of access to employment and jobs created, whereas Modernising Rural Delivery had a more social-economic focus on rural service provision.
The funding will be allocated at a sub-regional level through rural partnership structures, with each of the sub-regions having 50-75% of the funds they had for Modernising Rural Delivery. These partnerships are currently negotiating plans with Yorkshire Forward.
Some potential projects include transport initiatives helping people living in more remote areas access work opportunities. Sub-regional rural partnership support is another potential area of investment. Matched funding from local authorities and private sector organisations will be important in all initiatives.
